Dear fellow bowlers

Well here I am again just like the proverbial bad penny.

I consider it a great honour to be in this position. For me, the District and being chosen to play for them was, and still is, a privilege. I first played for them back in the 1980s and the thing I enjoyed the most was the fact that you mixed with other players in the area and as many were better than yourself then you learnt more about the game and the personalities you were playing with or met in the bar afterwards.

If so-far you haven’t played for the District then give it a go for you can only benefit.

This year my bowls tour on 1 September will be to Torquay and at the moment there are a few vacancies so for a weeks bowling on good fast greens then join us. Bowling is Sunday to Friday, ie 6 days for the ladies and the men who will also play a game against Devon County.

This year I have chosen as my charity the local Parkinson Disease Society based in Farnborough who do a great deal of work and give help to local sufferers. Many of us know or have known someone who would or did benefit from the work that they do.

Well all that remains now is for me to wish you all a highly successful and healthy, 2012 and I look forward to meeting more new faces on the green whether it be in the competitions or preferably playing for us in one or more of the fixtures that you will find displayed in your Clubhouses.
